Holy crap you guys, I think we all just got rickrolled by Macy's. Did not see THAT coming.

Also, I LOLed so hard at LMM changing "condoms" to "candy" during the In the Heights number. And Marcy looked FIERCE. ♥

Anyway. Not that I endorse being thankful only one day of the year, but right now there are more things in my life making me happy than I can list or even wrap my head around, and I never want to take any of them for granted.

And that is my Thanksgiving spiel.

Godspeed,
Mary

skjflasf Yesterday was Karen Olivo's last ItH performance! There was no announcement or anything. Of course, the ONE original cast member I was most desperate to see live. DAMN IT.

"How are you today? I'm feeling a little blue myself. You know, a little anxious for no particular reason. A little sad that I should feel anxious at this age. You know, a little self-conscious anxiety resulting in nonspecific sadness. A state that I call blue."

Apologies to Man in Chair of Drowsy Chaperone fame. But listen up, guys. I'VE FOUND AN ANTIDOTE.

Shiny happy weekend picspam!

LET'S HIT IT. )

YOU'RE WELCOME.

I have decided I'm going to go to B&N tomorrow to see the In the Heights cast perform, but my CD is at home, so I have nothing for them to sign. Alas.

Still. !!!!!

In the latest installment of I Do Ridiculous Things for Musical Theater, I drove around town for two hours tracking down the In the Heights CR, which was released today. Best Buy, the third place I checked, had exactly one copy and I BOUGHT IT, so the rest of the city is screwed as far as owning the soundtrack to a hot Latin musical, I guess. Pwned.

Seriously though, at every store I wanted to say to the cashier, "Don't you understand!? This is going to be huge! Just wait until it sweeps the Tonys!" But I thought I'd probably sound like one of those crazy people who stand around waving "The End Is Near" signs, so they'll just have to figure it out on their own.

Blackout was still playing in the car when I arrived home, so I drove in a giant circle to avoid cutting it off. Whaaat.

More later.

Godspeed,
Mary

P.S. My mural still looks AWESOME; thanks for asking!

Have to poast these before I forget.

1. I just noticed I'm missing Over the Moon from RENT 8/31/1997 (Taye Diggs' last - Anthony, Norbert, Marcy, Sherie, et al.), as well as everything after What You Own. Can someone quick hook me up?

2. Awesomely ridiculous commentthread, plus an amazing photo!

3. On an unrelated note, I am kind of...arranging my days around time intervals long enough to listen to Blackout. I don't think I've EVER been obsessed with a song so ridiculously.

Godspeed,
Mary

1. This song gives me chills. "Currently listening" is a lie; I had to stop typing until it was over because my brain just like...shuts down when it's playing. Damn.

2. So after an embarrassing amount of marathon-ing today, I'm completely caught up on Avatar: the Last Airbender. I find it disturbing that a show that airs on Nick has better continuity and better-planned character growth and storylines than almost all network shows, but hey, I'll take my awesome TV where I can get it. Also: Mai is FIERCE, Katara is more amazing than I bet most of fandom understands, and Zuko is utterly hilarious. (Zuko:Avatar::Manley Pope:RENT, I'm convinced.)

3. Reader response question! What's your friendship OTP? I've been obsessing lately over Toby and CJ (from West Wing) and was wondering whether anyone else has a fascination with certain platonic relationships.

Mary

MERLE DANDRIDGE IS BACK IN RENT!!!

Way to cater to my GIGANTIC GIRLCRUSH, Broadway. Someone go bootleg her NOW.

Also a new Mimi, hm. Has to be better than Tamyra. And she'll be able to do the glitter!hair. Hooray.

asjfdkl;;lkajfl MERLE DANDRIDGE.

To make this poast have some value to people who do not understand the pwn/hotness of Ms. Dandridge, my brief comments on the Tony noms:
In the Heights: YES. Though it was lame that neither Mandy nor Karen got recognized. I hope they go anyway. I want foxy red carpet pictures.
Cry-Baby: Best musical! I'm so proud. Please, Christopher, go and get lots of pictures taken. Maybe considering bringing back the purple bowtie.
Gypsy: Whatever. Sorry guys. I feel like this show's already over-hyped (except for Laura Benanti, she is fierce) without 9 nominations.

Anyway, anything will beat last year's SA sweep, huh?

Godspeed,
Mary

P.S. MERLE DANDRIDGE.

I just played my 1000th game of Free Cell, holycow. Maybe if Vista didn't keep track I'd feel less like a HUGE NERD.

More importantly, IN THE HEIGHTS WAS ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA TODAY. "It Won't Be Long Now," "When You're Home," and a super-brief interview with Lin-Manuel Miranda. aksdjf;l I CAN'T EVEN PICK ONE THING TO CAPSLOCK-EXCLAMATION-POINT. I love it all. This cast is so awesome, the music is so good, the story is so solid and fresh.

(Robin de Jesus = the Hispanic Telly Leung, Y/Y?)

1. Another James Marsden Gap ad, omg. (Thanks, [info]adventures!)

2. Hilarious Twilight analysis/parody, via [info]debacul.

3. Yet another RENT desktop!

4. I already mentioned this in an flocked poast, but I've made In the Heights icons. I seriously think this show is going to turn out to be something really special, guys. Can't wait for the cast recording June 3.

Mary
